How long to boil eggs?

The cooking time depends on how you prefer your eggs

I try to find the answers for the following questions: how to cook your perfect egg, peel it lightly and cook it perfectly every time and how long it should cook
Here’s the method for how to cook hard boiled eggs. Even if you forget and the eggs sit in the water a few minutes longer than you had planned, they’ll not be over-cooked.

Perfect hard-boiled eggs

They can be easily over-cooked and sometimes having sulphuric taste. The cooking time of a hard-boiled egg can vary depending on the size of the egg and the desired creaminess of the egg yolk.

Steps

Depending on Your taste, the eggs should be done perfectly in 10-12 minutes.

Place the eggs in a single layer at the bottom of the saucepan. Add more water till the eggs are covered.

There is no need to boil eggs until the water has reached a boiling point. If you take your water too long to boil, the eggs will have to sit in hot water for much longer.

When the water boils, remove the pot from the heat and leave the egg in the hot water for about 12 minutes.

Test an egg to see if it is undercooked, by removing it with a spoon, running it under cold water, and cutting it open. If it’s not done enough, cook the other eggs a minute or two longer.

It is very hard to overcook eggs using this method, even if you let the eggs sit, covered, for up to 15-18 minutes without the eggs getting overcooked.

If you want the yolk still a little translucent in the center, let them sit in the hot water for only 6 minutes.

From soft to hard-boiled eggs

If you want to boil a hard egg with a firm yolk, leave the egg in hot water for 2-3 minutes. For a soft, boiled egg, a large egg should simmer for five minutes, and for a medium boiling egg, it should not simmer for more than 10 minutes or until it boils. If you are boiling hard eggs with firmer yolks, you should leave the medium egg in boiling water until boiling.

Easy way to peel hard-boiled egg

  • Better to know that older eggs are easier to peel than fresh eggs. So, if you can, buy your eggs at least a week ahead of making hard-boild eggs
  • Boil the eggs and try cracking the shells all around without peeling them and soaking the eggs in water for a while.
  • Peel the eggs under a bit of running cold water
  • Remove the eggs to a large bowl of ice water and leave them there for few minutes
